EUAM Iraq and the European External Action Service – EEAS EU Exploratory Mission to Iraq met for a second time today with Senior Iraqi counterparts to discuss the Ministry of Interiors preparation for ensuring the security of the Iraqi National Elections scheduled to take place in October 2021.

A range of issues were discussed such as matters surrounding the provision and specific nature of EU observational support in the context of the election process.  The meeting also focused on the detailed planning and security arrangements being prepared by the Ministry of Interior to secure the success of the elections.

The Deputy Minister expressed his own gratitude and that of the Minister of Interior for the support provided by the European Union and EUAM Iraq for the elections and through the mandate delivery.
