In the prevention of crime and terrorist threats, there are times and situations when law enforcement and security officers face great challenges to ensure safety. 

However, no matter the situation is, one principle remains unchanged: the obligation to respect and protect human rights.

A series of workshops organised by the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq at the request of the Human Rights Department of the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior has addressed this specific issue.
