Baghdad/Brussels: Today, Head of @EUAM Iraq, @AndersWiberg, presented to the EU Member States the progress made by Iraqi partners and the Mission's contribution to enabling Iraqi led security sector reform. 

During the reporting period, the Mission delivered an extensive series of workshops and advisory meetings in its established area of operations. EUAM Iraq also facilitated a comprehensive leadership development programme for the Ministry of the Interior, enabled exchanges of border experts, organised important benchmarking trips to Germany, Finland and Italy and actively supported the EU Counterterrorism programmes.

“I am greatly encouraged that Iraq has made a breakthrough with the recently approved National Security Strategy. Given the complexity of such an important undertaking, this is indeed significant. This Strategy sets the strategic direction for the national security agenda, comprehensively addressing the national interest and security and safety of the Iraqi people.  
We are honoured to have been involved in this very important process and will now provide support to enable our Iraqi partners with the implementation arrangements”, summarised Wiberg his speech.
