Women in leadership positions are still underrepresented in the Iraqi security sector. To support the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to empower women in management positions EUAM Iraq developed a comprehensive female leadership programme funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
Around fifty current and emerging female leaders from the MoI attended the first part of this multi-week programme. Further courses which continue until December. Together with high-profile female lecturers from the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University in the Netherlands attendees defined their leadership style, discussed advantages of female leadership qualities and improved their skills.
The strategic inclusion of women in the development of security sector policies and the active and meaningful participation and representation of women in the Ministry of Interior is critical to strengthening security for the entire population.
