“My participation in this training has had a real and positive impact on my work. I am now in the process of implementing a new plan to enable women in the Ministry of Interior to be effectively involved at various levels within the institution. This plan is a tangible result of the training provided by EUAM Iraq,” summarised Lieutenant Colonel Warda Abdel Hamid, a dedicated member of the police command.
On December 5, EUAM Iraq handed over a Train the Trainer certificate focusing on the "Roles of women and men in the police and community” to her and 11 other participants. The women and men came from various Directorates of the MoI, Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency (FIIA) and Community Police from Baghdad and other governorate who participated successfully in 3 multi-day workshops to obtain training skills.
"The idea behind this was for the Ministry of the Interior to gradually build up its own training capacities in various areas so that they are no longer relying on external trainers," explains the strategic advisor of EUAM Iraq.
The workshops focused on how women and men can use their respective perspectives to shape their working environment and what added value each perspective offers. Participants also learnt about their capacities in planning and designing training sessions, acquired new learning methods and discussed the importance of good communication.
