In collaboration with NATO Mission Iraq (NMI), EUAM Iraq supported the Planning and Follow-Up Directorate and the Integrity Committee of the Ministry of Interior in a high-level dialogue in Baghdad to introduce the NATO Building Integrity Programme. The initiative aims to identify strengths and weaknesses, develop a ministry-wide action plan, and enhance integrity and accountability within the ministry.
Participants included high-ranking officers from several directorates of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Planning and Follow-Up Directorate (PFUD), the MoI Integrity Committee, and senior officials from EUAM Iraq and NMI, who engaged in in-depth discussions about the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), experiences from the Ministry of Defence’s SAQ process, and the proposed way forward for the MoI’s SAQ.
The dialogue’s outcomes include presenting the SAQ, establishing a timeline for implementation, and planning next steps. These efforts aim to enhance governance, accountability, efficiency, inclusiveness, and respect for human rights, aligning with the EUAM-MoI Joint Plan’s goals. Through this collaborative effort, EUAM Iraq and NMI are promoting integrity and accountability within the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, contributing to Iraq’s overall stability and development.
